Liholiho Yacht Club
Heritage-driven food is finally having the spot light it deserves in San Francisco. The food of Hawaii comes from a culinary tradition that showcases a love for the sea and local ingredients. However, with so many different cultures and populations having immigrated to Hawaii, the food from the 50th state is anything but predictable. Hawaii is one of the most diverse places in the world; nearly everyone on the islands is mixed-ethnicity. Today, this beautiful melting pot of cultures has come together to shape its own island culture and unique culinary traditions.
Liholiho Yacht Club celebrates the culinary diversity of Hawaii while using California ingredients and sensibilities. Walking into Liholiho one is greeted by an open kitchen - one of the largest I’ve ever seen. I almost felt as though I was walking through the kitchen to get to my table.
Everything here felt over-the-top, in the best possible sense of the word.
We left every plate bare even though we ordered (and ate) more than we needed to. We couldn’t stop - it was so tasty and unusual! I wish we could have stomached the space to try the rest of the menu.
I’m fairly confident that you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose to order here- everything is delicious and packed with an element of surprise.
